Fletcher 2000-2009
A refocusing and redirection of the organisation is carried out. The Canadian pulp and paper assets are sold to Norske Skog, and the Energy Division is sold to Shell Oil and Apache Corporation.
In 2001 Fletcher Challenge is split into three companies; Fletcher Building (incorporating Fletcher Construction), Fletcher Challenge Forests (now named Tenon), and Rubicon (New Zealand) to commercialise emerging technologies. The company returns to its traditional focus - building materials and construction.
As Fletcher approaches its centennial, its building products are found throughout the world and Fletcher Construction buildings continue to define cityscapes and much of the industrial landscape and infrastructure of New Zealand and the South Pacific.
