Fletcher 1970-1979
Fletcher, with Mainline Contractors (Australia) begins development of the Manukau City Centre - over 1000 hectares of residential and industrial land development, an office park, New Zealand's largest shopping mall, theatres, and schools. The final stages are completed in the 1980s.
The development of Whitby township near Wellington sees existing stands of native bush preserved and a 500 acre exotic plantation forest planted, the first ever incorporated in a
major urban scheme. The residential areas of Kelson and Grenada Village also help support Wellington region's population growth.
