Fletcher 1950-1959

The first major Australian projects are undertaken such as the Kurnell refinery pier and the submarine pipeline across Botany Bay, and the development of State housing in NSW.

Fletcher establish a universal superannuation scheme for staff, men and women, wage and salary earners alike.

In 1954 seven subsidiaries are created - timber, construction, steel, sales and service, the trust company, industries and plant hire.

Government, with Fletchers and other private interests, create the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company to utilise maturing stands of Radiata Pine in the state-owned Kaingaroa Forest. The mill, and the town of Kawerau, is built and production begins in 1955.
